This short film was created for my graduation project whilst at Lincoln University 2023. A project inspired by the Doppelgänger TikTok trend of early 2023.
He tries to plead his innocence, but his words fall on deaf ears. He's quickly arrested until the situation takes a turn for the worse. What did he see? Was it real?
Advertisement for Styliize Boutique

Created for a client, Styliize Boutique. The clients brief an advertisement for their range of nursery wall art prints, showing the production of prints and finished product. I was involved in purchasing props for the video, and I created the scene and controlled all aspects of filming & editing.
The client was very pleased with the finished result.
Channel 4 Ident - Creaking Gate

1/3 Channel 4 Horror Concept Idents. The ident aims to create a spooky atmosphere inspired from the horror tropes of spiders, webs and the sickening use of the colour green. The Channel 4 logo plays the role of the horror film 'character' in this ident as part of the branding. In this ident, it plays the role of the spider.
Channel 4 Ident - The Storm

2/3 Channel 4 Horror Concept Idents. The Storm uses digital stock footage and the use of editing to create the unsettling storm atmosphere combined with the horror tropes of blood and a haunted forest.
Channel 4 Ident - Devil in the Room

3/3 Channel 4 Horror Concept Idents. This ident is inspired from the horror tropes of the Devil and the fear of being watched unknowingly. The devil in the corner scene from Insidious helped to inspire this particular concept. Again, the Channel 4 logo is used as our horror 'character', playing the role of the Devil.

Welcome to my portfolio!
My name is Ashton Charles and I am a Media Production Graduate with a First Class Honours from the University of Lincoln. Since I was a child, I have always had a passion for movies and storytelling, which is why I decided to pursue this degree.
Throughout my academic journey, I have been lucky enough to explore my interests in directing, cinematography, editing and presenting/ acting, as well as developing my understanding of media theory.
In my editing work, I am particularly drawn to experimenting with pacing, using colour grading to set a mood and layering with sounds and music. For my camera work, I love exploring different angles, capturing emotions, and experimenting with lighting. Ultimately, my goal is to craft unique and compelling stories that capture the attention of my audience.
